Gas Boiler Level Control Install

Rasmussen Mechanical Services was contracted to remove and replace the existing water columns on Boilers 1 through 4 as part of a gas boiler level control upgrade focused on improving reliability, visibility, and code compliance.

The scope of work included the removal of the existing water columns on each boiler, followed by the installation of new steel water columns (Model W0450) with flanged connections. These assemblies were selected for durability and long-term performance in an industrial boiler environment.

Each water column was equipped with relay controls (Model R310L) housed in an EMA 1 enclosure, allowing for proper level monitoring and integration with the boiler safety and control systems. Rasmussen also installed new steel water gage valves (Model SG854) and prismatic gage glass assemblies (Model S9) featuring a 12.5-inch visible range, providing operators with clear and accurate visual indication of boiler water levels.

Following each installation, Rasmussen performed a hydrostatic test to verify the integrity of all piping and flanged connections. Each boiler was tested individually to confirm leak-free operation before being returned to service.

This project improved water level visibility, enhanced boiler safety, and ensured continued compliance with applicable boiler codes and best practices across all four gas-fired boilers. Shoutout to our Columbus Boiler Repair for the great work!
