HVAC Testing, Balancing & Certification

Columbus, Nebraska

Becton Dickinson runs two medical device plants in Columbus, one on East 19th Street and one on 10th Avenue. Their production areas only stay in spec if air moves in the right direction at the right volume. Rasmussen Mechanical Services works in both plants year-round, testing, balancing and certifying the HVAC systems that keep those areas in spec.

Twice a year, during BD’s July and December shutdowns, RMS crews take velocity and room pressure readings across the plants. In 2025, we ran smoke studies and rebalanced the air systems over a Friday-to-Sunday window.

Between shutdowns, RMS has:

  • certified HEPA filtration on a new production line, in molding areas and on packaging lines

  • verified and rebalanced exhaust fans to EPA Method 204

  • surveyed and troubleshot air handlers at the West plant with duct traverses and balance valve readings

  • balanced the East plant’s pressure-independent control valves using ultrasonic flow readings

Shoutout to our Columbus commercial HVAC repair team for keeping BD’s plants running in spec.
