Furnish & Install 5 RTUs
Bellevue. Nebraska

Rasmussen Mechanical Services furnished and installed five new cooling-only rooftop units (RTUs) to provide targeted spot cooling in production areas throughout the plant. The project included full coordination of mechanical and electrical installation, along with new ductwork drops to match the provided spot cooling layout. As part of the electrical scope, a new 480V three-phase rooftop distribution panel was installed to feed all five units, with each RTU sized at approximately 30 amps. A two-position selector switch was installed within 60 feet of each unit for local control. All interior conduit was installed in aluminum, rooftop conduit in IMC, and all conductors were specified as copper for durability and code compliance.
Each unit required a new roof curb and supply access penetration through the roof. Roofing repairs and curb flashing were completed by Centimark to maintain roof integrity. Galvanized spiral ductwork was insulated and poly-jacketed to match existing unit design and provide efficient air delivery to production drop locations. The project also required multiple crane picks for equipment placement, along with an on-site staging area to support material storage and installation logistics.
All work was scheduled around Sunday shutdown windows, requiring multiple weekends to complete installation with minimal disruption to plant operations. Unit controls were configured through the RTU SSE boards to operate automatically based on supply air temperature and outdoor air temperature, with simple interior on/off switches provided. The control sequence allows fan-only operation below 70–75°F, Stage 1 cooling between 75–85°F, and Stage 2 cooling above 85°F, delivering efficient spot cooling tailored to changing production conditions. Shoutout to our Bellevue HVAC Repair and installation team for the great work!
