Dual-Fuel Rooftop Unit Replacement
Denver, Colorado

One of the rooftop units at Cintas' Oswego Street facility in Denver was an older Carrier unit still running on R-22. In July 2026, Rasmussen Mechanical Services pulled the system into a vacuum, ran a leak search and recharged it to keep it going.
Repair or replace. R-22 hasn't been produced or imported in the U.S. since 2020, so every recharge on an old unit gets more expensive. Rather than keep putting refrigerant into it, Cintas had the Denver team replace the unit that September.
Tear-out. The crew disconnected the electrical, controls, gas piping, condensate drain and supply and return ductwork, recovered and disposed of the old refrigerant, and craned the old unit off the roof for haul-away.
New unit. A new Carrier dual-fuel rooftop unit went on the existing curb with no new curb adapter needed. Dual fuel means the unit heats with a heat pump and switches to gas when it gets cold. It came with an economizer and a hail guard to protect the coil from Front Range hail. The crew reconnected electrical, controls, gas, condensate and ductwork, pulled the Denver permit, and started up and commissioned the unit.
