Rooftop Unit Repairs

Flanders Provision Company calls RMS for HVAC repairs at its facility on Summit Avenue in Hastings. In 2026, RMS techs made three service trips to keep the office and cafeteria rooftop units running.

In March, the Trane rooftop unit serving the upstairs offices needed repairs on its heating section. RMS techs replaced the gas valve, the inducer motor and both hot surface ignitors. With the parts in stock, the unit was back in service without waiting on shipping.

In July, the cafeteria unit got new electrical components. Crews replaced three contactors and the fan cycle switches, which turn the condenser fans on and off based on head pressure. Worn contactors are a common reason a unit short-cycles or won’t start, so replacing them heads off a no-cooling call in the middle of summer.

In August, RMS went back to the office units for economizer work. On the upstairs Trane unit, techs installed a new economizer control and damper so the unit can use outside air for cooling when the weather allows instead of running the compressors. They also replaced four metal mist eliminators on the outside air intake. The York unit serving the main office got a new mist eliminator too.

RMS has also handled the annual inspection on the plant’s 300 hp Cleaver-Brooks boiler.
