Boiler & Heat Recovery Project

Rasmussen Mechanical Services successfully completed a turnkey boiler and Condex heat recovery installation for Green Plains Central City in Central City, Nebraska. The project involved transporting three boilers from offsite storage to the facility using specialized trucks and cranes, setting them in place, and upgrading their burner controls and flame safeguard systems with Auto Flame Mk-8 to match the existing Superior boiler controls. Our team fabricated and installed all required steam, feedwater, blowdown, gas, vent, and relief piping—complete with supports, insulation, and jackets—to integrate the new boilers seamlessly into the existing system.

We also erected custom boiler platforms and catwalks, recertified and added safety relief valves to meet code, and installed three gas-fired make-up air units. For the Condex system, we offloaded, staged, and set the heat recovery equipment, assembled all fan and duct components, and installed boiler stacks with roof curbs. Interconnecting ductwork from each boiler stack was supported, insulated, and jacketed per GPRE specifications. The project was completed with expert start-up and commissioning to ensure efficient, code-compliant, and reliable operation. Shoutout to our Grand Island Boiler Team for the great work!
