We recently completed a unique install at Interbake, one of the top processing plants in the industry. The job involved conditioning a specialized room known as the “Thin Mint haven,” where Girl Scout Thin Mints are crafted and packaged. The goal? Create a consistent environment that preserves the cookies’ signature aroma and quality.
To get it right, the room needed to stay at a steady 65°F with no more than 45% relative humidity. That meant tight temperature and humidity control—no exceptions. We installed two 25-ton Trane units, each built specifically for this application. These units include hot-gas reheat and desiccant wheels to manage humidity year-round. Each one weighs about 4,300 pounds.
The install wasn’t easy. The units had to be set deep inside the building, with no straightforward way in. We landed them with a crane onto a custom-built plywood pad, then moved them over 100 yards by hand—across a roof expansion joint—to get them in place. It took careful planning, strong coordination, and a lot of muscle.
