Front Stack Repair

Rasmussen Mechanical Services was contracted to complete a code-compliant repair to a deteriorated section of the boiler pressure vessel located above the front doors.

The scope of work began with cutting out and removing the damaged section of the boiler that had shown signs of deterioration. Once removed, the surrounding area was ground and properly prepared to ensure clean base material and proper weld penetration.

A new patch section was then fabricated and welded into place by Rasmussen’s certified boiler welders. After welding was completed, the repaired area was allowed to cool to the appropriate temperature to permit dye penetrant testing (PT). This non-destructive examination was performed to verify weld integrity and confirm that no surface defects or discontinuities were present.

Upon successful completion of the dye penetrant test, Rasmussen performed a hydrostatic test on the boiler to ensure the repair was leak-free and capable of safely operating under pressure.

All work was completed in accordance with National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements and applicable state boiler regulations. This repair restored the integrity of the pressure vessel and allowed the boiler to be safely returned to service.Shoutout to our Columbus Boiler Repair for the great work!
