Rapid City HVAC Maintenance

Rapid City, SD

LifeScape brought Rasmussen Mechanical Services in for planned HVAC maintenance at its Jordan Drive building in Rapid City in fall 2025. The building runs on nine rooftop units, plus exhaust fans and water heaters. The first PM visit in November found problems on every one of the nine rooftop units. Technicians:

  • replaced worn contactors on eight units

  • replaced capacitors, a crankcase heater, a gas valve, a flame sensor, and a motor and sheave

  • replaced the heat exchangers on two units, at 16 hours of labor each

  • repaired the drain pans on two other units

  • put new pillow block bearings in two exhaust fans, and later replaced the motor on one of them

The follow-up visits kept going through the fixes. A February check caught four more contactors. In the spring, two technicians replaced a condensate pan and trap on one unit, and a new economizer logic module and actuator went into another. On a third unit, techs brazed a coil repair, pulled a vacuum and recharged it with MO99. A fourth unit got a new terminal board. Both water heaters got new ignitors and flame sensors. Replacement parts were OEM Trane components wherever the units called for them.

In September 2026, RMS installed a new Honeywell building automation system throughout the building, with more than 100 hours of installation and programming. LifeScape’s staff now have one system to monitor and control their HVAC equipment.

Shoutout to our Rapid City HVAC repair and commercial HVAC installation teams for the work at LifeScape.
