Central Plant Boiler & Steam System Upgrade
Hastings. Nebraska

Rasmussen Mechanical Service's Boiler Installation team partnered with Mary Lanning Hospital on a major central plant modernization project designed to improve reliability, redundancy, and long-term performance for critical hospital operations.
The project scope included the installation of three (3) Superior Boiler 350 HP high-efficiency steam boilers, each paired with Webster dual-fuel burners and Siemens LMV52 combustion controls, fully compliant with UL, CSD-1, and NFPA-85 standards. This configuration delivers robust capacity, fuel flexibility, and precise combustion control to support continuous healthcare demands.
To support boiler operations, Rasmussen furnished and integrated a 27,600 PPH Industrial Steam spray-tray deaerator system with National Board–stamped ASME pressure vessel construction, stainless steel internals, VFD-driven boiler feed pumps, and Siemens touchscreen controls with Modbus communication. A matching surge tank system was installed to provide additional operational stability and redundancy.
The project also included a comprehensive fuel oil infrastructure, featuring a duplex oil pumping system, high-capacity filtration and water separation, back-pressure regulation, and a UL-listed Fireguard fuel storage tank system designed for safety, monitoring, and long-term durability. Supporting systems such as water softening, chemical treatment, boiler blowdown separation, makeup air units, exhaust fans, underground Perma-Pipe steam and condensate distribution, and coordinated Siemens control panels were integrated into a single, cohesive plant solution.
