Boiler Burner Service

Rasmussen Mechanical Services has supported the boiler plant at South Dakota State University in Brookings since 2023. Our burner technicians first tuned the plant’s burners in early 2023. That fall they replaced a 2.5" Maxon Micro-Ratio gas valve on one of the plant’s Johnston boilers and retuned the burner after the new valve was in.

In 2024 our team came back to tune that burner on fuel oil, setting combustion with a combustion analyzer. In 2025 we replaced its modulation motor, the motor that drives the burner’s firing rate up and down with the plant’s load.

Along with the equipment work, Rasmussen Mechanical Services held a day of boiler operator training for the university’s plant staff in 2023. Shoutout to our Brookings Boiler Installation and Brookings Commercial HVAC Installation teams for the great work!
